Ontime Privacy Policy

Last updated: Apr 2022

Ontime is developed as a free application that provides live train times in the United Kingdom. To help improve the application, we ask for your consent to collect information as set out in this privacy policy.
We promise not to sell any of your data to third parties.

What data do we collect?

We collect the following data:

  • Analytics data using Google Analytics. This service means we have a better idea as to who is using Ontime and will be used to improve the application in the future. For a complete list of the data collected using Google Analytics, please see Google Analytics data collection.
  • Crash logs from your device using Google Firebase Crashlytics. This service allows us to fix problems with the application more quickly and provide a better overall user experience.
  • The stations you travel from. This allows us to view where in the country our users are. It will be used to prioritize new feature additions within Ontime (eg. providing local transport timetable support).
We do not collect your exact location. Some features of Ontime use GPS services provided by Google including Google Location Services and Google Maps. View the Google privacy policy.

When do we collect your data?

We collect and process this information when:

  • You open, close or use the application.
  • The application crashes.

How do we store your data?

We stores your data using Google Firebase servers provided by Google. These servers are located within the EU (European Union). We keep your data on file for data analytics, performance monitoring and account syncing features. We do not sell your personal data nor supply it to any other party unless required to by law.

What are your data protection rights?

We would like to make sure you are aware of your data protection rights. All users are entitled to the following:

  • The right to access copies of your data.
  • The right to rectification of any information in your data that you believe to be inaccurate.
  • The right to erase the personal data that we hold on you.
  • The right to restrict the processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
  • The right to object to processing of your personal data, under certain conditions.
You may be entitled to additional rights other than those stated above. Check with your local jurisdiction for more information. If you make a data request, we have a maximum of one month to respond to you. If you would like to exercise any of these rights, please email us at [email protected].

What are cookies?

Cookies are text files placed on your device to collect internet log information and visitor behaviour information. We do not use cookies directly within Ontime. However, external websites and services used in Ontime may use cookies.
